when i log into my windows xp, i can't see anything, i
can't even see the log in screen, i just type in my
password blind. I know it is logging on b/c i hear the
log in noise and the hard drive grinding. My monitor
displays the boot up proccess, but the screen goes blank
right before the log in screen is displayed. Any tips,
please help. thanks.

Hi

Try this:

After the next restart, keep tapping the F8 key to see if you can access a
screen that has 'Last Known Good Configuration' as an option - try that.
Failing that, try to access the same screen again, this to try a System
Restore via Safe Mode.

thanks for the help, however, neither of them worked, the
sane problem still occurs, any more tips?

Hi

If you can't access 'Last Known good Configuration' or Safe Mode, you'll
have to look towards a 'Repair' install of XP. Your programs, files
settings should remain intact. One drawback to this method is that the
Windows Updates will have to be re-downloaded/re-installed:

hi,
i can access the safe mode and last known good
configuration, and i tried both, but problem has not been
fixed, do you still recommend a repair install? (thanks
for the help)

Hi

If you can't access either, nor can you boot normally into Windows, then a
'Repair' install will be needed.
