blank preview screen in wmm

I cannot view the movie in the preview screen while the timeline is playing.
I can hear it, and the bar is moving down the timeline when i hit play,
however the preview screen/monitor is blank. when i save the movie and play
in wmp i can see and hear the movie. Editing is difficult when u can't see
what u r doing!
Is this a memory issue?

Ok so i downloaded the program and it says n.a to the codecs for all video
files. they are not mpegs. i captured them as avi files using wmm. now
what?

I captured them with firewire from panasonic mini dv cam. chose both the
recommended option as well as the avi option - both have same result. Do i
perhaps have too many codecs installed? or not enough? gspot says n.a to
both avi and wmv files, and says there are 130 video codecs installed.

I ran cw shredder - all clear. I do have a codec pack installed - should i
uninstall it?
I have not used mm on this machine before.

I've uninstalled the codec pack - i now have 30 codecs instead of 130 - and
it seems to have worked. i can now see the clips in the preview screen.
however gspot is still saying n.a to codecs. but at least mm is now
workable, thanks for your help
