Dear all,

I have made a lengthy query based on that I made a report, but in the report
I have taken out some fields fit results on an A4 Landscape paper - the
contents are in one page only but still I am getting 2 extra pages as blank -
how to correct this - please help
I use Access 2003 with winxp

Hi Shan

You need to reduce the size of the report in design view until it fits with
the margins you have set for your printer.

Drag the sides of the report in.
If this does not fix it then go to File - Page Setup and reduce the
left/right margins.

I reduced - in fact there are some lines (a blue and grey color) now the
contents are in only one page but I get message like below:
"The section width is greater than the page width, and there are no items in
the additional space, so some pages may blank , for example the report width
may be wider than the page width"

I am still getting extra 2 blank pages - please help me.

Rgds

You have to understand that Access is trying to print the entirety of the
*sections*, not just the objects you have placed within the sections. One can
quite easily make a report that is too large for the paper size and margin
settings with ZERO controls on it.

The width of your sections plus the margin settings in Page Setup have to be
less than the width of the paper you are using.

The sections being too tall can also cause extra pages because again the entire
section is being sent to the printer, not just the objects within.

Dear

You mean - no solution for the 2 blank pages?

No. I mean you have to change the size of your sections. Try this quick
text...

Make a copy of your report, open it in design view and delete all of the
controls except for one TextBox that is positioned all the way to the left..
Then drag the sections width to the the left until it hits this one control.
If previewed, you should see that the extra page problem is gone.

Now start making the report sections progressively wider and preview after
each change. Eventually you should find the maximum width that the sections
can be without introducing the extra pages. That is how wide you need to
make the sections on your real report. This width should also be easy to
calculate in one step. The width of your paper minus the margin settings.
If your report section is narrower than that result then you should not get
extra pages and if wider than that result then you will.
