Blackend out login window - virus?

Adam,

Do you mean that the bit on the login where is should
say "Windows XP Professional" as an image is black?

i.e. Just about the username / password boxes?

I take it that once you log in that black stripe goes away. I.e., this is
not a hardware problem.

BTW do you use a firewall?
