Hi there, recently i have noticed that as the pc boots up an aditional screen
comes up with the following text appearing....Intel UNDI PXE 2.0 (Build 082)
Via Fast Rhine II Ethernet Adapter 2.25 Client Mac Address 00 11 09 B002 71
GUID 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 (followed ny) DHCP....._/\/\/\/
(the later part rotating)
this goes on fro around 1 minute then follwed by...PXE E51 No DHCP on Proxy
DHCP offers were received...
PXE-Mof: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.

the pc then continues to boot up ok then.

I have a Via ethernet adapter as described, but i have disabled this, but i
still get the same start up problem...Can anyone help me to resolve this
situation

I will get a similar message only Nvidia Boot agent is mentioned . I
know my harddrive is failing and I think the message is telling me the
Harddrive can not boot .
Can you tell me , just out of interest , because I once associated my
computer problems with the free installation of Linux Xandros Operating
System , have you at any time loaded a Linux program onto your computer
, please .

I have had the message similar to what you have had there with the PX
and the 2.0 (Build 082) but I have associated it with a poor powe
supply beacause electricians have recommended an upgrade to th
electricity in this old house I rent with 2 other people . Th
appliances fail and so on .
Poor power supply = not enough power to harddrive = harddrive work
faster to look for data = thingie in harddrive moves up and faste
trying to compensate for lack of data , or similar , I can not say I a
a technician , and so harddrive clicks and harddrive breaks !
Could mean lack of power to harddrive . Have you got any evidence o
not enough power ?
If you haven't I think I can only become paranoid and suggest al
that Boot Agent business and PXE and the (Build082) is a hacking o
some sort because I have had several very unusual things go wrong wit
my computer . CheckDisk has removed some things I have researched an
found very little explanation for . The latest bit of excitement ha
been a PWSteal.Bankash.C. which if allowed into a computer can stea
passwords , and in its details at Symantec it names the Lloyds Bank
I presume that is the London Bank , and other very well known Banks .
It showed up as pHz in my Firewall Exceptions checked as a
Exception
