High,

already one year ago when I was surfing through the web with my win 98 home
comp. suddently the screen turned black, a box appeared saying " your are
attacked". The system turned off, it doesn't boot anymore, only black
screen, it turns off after a little while.
If only the HDD is deleted, at least the bios should be read when system is
turned on.

Thanks for help, suggestions,

Something similar happened to a friend of mine. We believe the problem was
caused by a power failure.
The date was wrong and I believe the problem was fixed when incorrect speed
ratings were fixed in the bios. I don't fully understand this, my machine
has no such setting. You could try resetting bios to default settings, if
that works change to what you had. It's a good idea to keep a record of
current bios settings. If your printer works from dos (i.e. doesn't rely on
windows support), you can use the prt scrn key, otherwise pencil and paper.
