Black out on screen

I had a new hard drive installed. I had trouble booting. After they
checking out the whole system it was determined that the cable to the
screen was bad. It was changed from an analog connection to a digital
connection. Now when the computer boots to desktop and I right click to
get a drop down menu the screen goes black. This occurs with every
boot. What can I do to fix this if anything. All help is appreciated.

I reinstalled every disk that was provided with the original purchase
from gateway. Then I went on line and downloaded every update
available. The problem still continues.

I am a novice and usually my own worst enemy. I have not tried safe
mode operation. But there are two programs on my computer NVIDIA
Control Paned and NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager. I know when I remove
these programs the black out problem is solved but then everything
looks as if it is floating on water when pages are moved on the screen.
So needless to say I restored my computer bringing back the black out
problem. I am at a loss.

This is happening due to graphic card driver. You have to update the
driver.Visit the manufacturer's website to download and intall the
latest driver.
