I have done this many times w. ASUS motherboards but am bothered by what I
see in the manual and the online documentation off ASUS' web. I have by the
way d/l'ed the new version 2.07 of AFUDOS.

Now when I look at the documentation I am seeing AFUDOS command line syntax
illustrated as /iP4C800E.rom

The file I just downloaded is av333x04.zip. This extracts to AV333X04.AWD,
Nothing like the illustration in the manual. What is the correct entry in
the command line to flash the BIOS to the latest version? It is 10.21 if my
memory serves me right, as I type this.

Sorry for what may appear as an elementary question. I was just surprised
that the new bios file and the example in the manual could be so different.

Janet,

As you've noticed, you got the BIOS for an A7V333 mainboard ( an old Socket
A, AMD Athlon, board). I doubt that an Award BIOS for an Athlon could be
flashed onto an Intel board with an AMI BIOS, but it would be best not to
try.

The latest one for the P4C800E Deluxe is:

http://www.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/P4C800E-DX/P4ced21.zip

It unzips to P4CED21.ROM. You would probably have to rename it to use the EZ
Flash utility (if the P4C800E Deluxe supports that), but not for AFUDOS.

Incidentally, the latest version of AFUDOS on the Asus site is 2.11.

http://www.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/AFUDOS211.zip

(Whether it is worth the additional download, I can't say. 2.11 has worked
for me.)

According to the US ASUS web sight the latest bios file is P4Ced21.zip
Afudos /iROMfile is the correct syntax you can use a .rom .awd or .bin
file. Are you sure you have the correct file for your board?

Bob. Thank you a million times. Updated the bios just fine. I have no idea
how I got linked to the wrong bios in the first place. I am soo glad I
stopped to ask when it didn't make sense.
