As the title states, I installed the floppy drive, it shows up in the BIOS
and on the startup checklist. There's an "A:" drive in My Computer, and
when I put a disk in, the light on the drive goes on. But when I try to
open or format I get the "Please insert disk (etc). Is this a dud drive or
is there a driver or something I can download? (I tried swapping cables and
that didn't work). Thanks.

You tried swapping the whole cable, or just reversing one end of the cable?
I'm wondering if one end of the floppy cable is reversed. That's easy to
do, and a relatively common error. -Dave
