Bios and Controller problem.

I have a problem whilst building a pc.

a) I cant boot up from a hard drive because the windows OS is
corrupted.

b) I can reinstall windows because my new controller is not recognised
therefore my CD ROM isnt recongnised.

I have a question how do I get my BIOS to recognise my controller and
therefore find devices to boot up from.

Any help please.

Simon.

How did that (becoming corrupted) happen? If you're unsure,
it could be important to resolve that first.

WHAT new controller?
Did you check your bios settings? Just about any modern
motherboard (or even fairly old ones) can boot to CD.

Check for settings to enable it. Check your manual for
potential jumpers to enable it. Check that the drive's
cables are in good condition and well-seated. Check the
drive jumpers. If all else fails, unplug the system from AC
then use the clear CMOS jumper. Check on the motherboard
manufacturer's website to see if there are newer bios that
address any seemingly-related problems. Are you certain the
optical drive, media, and cables are viable?
