Roelof

Pls be so kind as to re-post your question in English.
Hardly anybody in here understands/speaks Dutch.

Difficulty opening attachments is a known issue that is affecting some who
installed Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).
One workaround is to uninstall IE8, which reverts you back to IE7.
Even without uninstalling IE8 you can make it work for all but TXT and
JPG attachments by doing the following:

Right-click on the shortcut that you use to open Windows Mail.
Select Properties. In the field labeled 'Start in' change the existing
value to %UserProfile%. Click OK. Restart Windows Mail and try
opening attachments.

Now-now Rainald, I've seen you answer questions posted in German
without asking for a repost in English.

LOL

I know that your name is of Dutch origin.
But I was carless enough to assume that Dutch would not be your
mother-tongue ;-)

On re-read of the OP I must say that my reaction was wrong.
Would I have really tried hard, I should have understood that the
question was on my favorite topic (the IE8 attachment bug) and I might
have replied in English.
My fault.
Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa. :-( :-(

But what really wonders me: Did I indeed post in German in here?
I really cannot remember :-(

Regards
Rainald

Let's see, you posted a French reply on June 4th ("Re: S.O.S. courriel"),
and your most recent German response here was on May 27th
("Re: unbekannter Fehler - Mail aus Postausgang läßt sich nicht löschen").
I don't have a problem with it.
Yes, Dutch is my mother tongue; I was 13 when I left Holland for the US.
I don't remember it well enough to speak it, though.

Thanks for your reply, Gary.
You are right, O posted in German and in French because I thought this
would be the best way to tell the users what to do.

Is this against the "rules" in here?
Should I add something in English in such cases?

Rainald

I'm not aware of any rules against posting in languages other than English.
To be sure, if the majority of posts were in languages other than English,
the 'signal-to-noise' ratio experienced by English speakers might become
undesirable.

Perhaps the word "rules" was a bit too strong. I meant to ask for some
guidelines for handling replies in postings having been sent in a
"foreign" language.

For sure!
I fully agree that the discussion in this group should be in English.
But knowing that some who post in their mother tongue do not know enough
English. That's why in the said cases (and another one recently) I
replied in German/French and told the OPs to please ask in the proper
group of their language.
I hope this was OK.
