Big Problem in Installing Outlook Small Biz Edition 2003

Hi all,

I have a complicated problem so I hope someone here can help me.

I used to have Office Pro Edition (PE) 2003. Then I decided to use Small Biz
Edition (SBE) because of BCM so this is what happened.

I uninstalled all the modules of PE except Outlook, cos I have tons of mails
and things. I then installed BCM from SBE onto it.

So now I have Outlook PE but BCM SBE.

Trouble now is I am unable to install office updates and BCM updates. I
tried to install Outlook SBE from "add programs" but they said there was an
error in installing. I don't dare to uninstall Outlook PE without first
backing up my stuff, and I don't know which are the important files to
backup, other than PST file. Does the PST file include all the folders which
I see in Outlook?

So could someone be so kind as to help me unravel this so that at the end of
the day, I have just Outlook SBE with BCM, and no more Outlook PE?
Than I would be able to install updates.

Thanks much.

Uninstalling won't touch your data or your mail profile settings.

Since BCM is part of Office 2003 Pro, why does SBE come into the picture at all?

Hi Sue,

When I bought Office Pro 2003, for some reason it didn't come with BCM. I
don't know why either. I heard the very first versions somehow didn't have
BCM and I guess I was one of them.

So does that mean I can uninstall MS OPE and my PST file, sig file, folders
will be where they are. I also run 2 profiles on OPE. How will that affect if
I uninstall OPE and install OSBE into the same folders where OPE was?

Thanks.

As I said, removing the program, doesn't do anything to your data. That includes signature files.

I have never done an OPE to SBE transfer and have no idea whether that will mess things up. I would probably use a separate folder. Since Professional has Access and SBE doesn't, why not use it and get the new BCM update (http://www.microsoft.com/office/outlook/contactmanager/prodinfo/update.mspx)?
