cards and the cable is a crossover it has already been checked i have had
lost of
people tell me things to try but i keep getting this problem any ideas would
be graetly apprieciated

thanks nick

Problem with your crossover patch cable. Get a new cross-over patch cable and
try again.

i have already tried that but thanks mate if you have any more ideas it
would be great thanx

What do you mean by "that if one computer is connected to the network?"
What do you actually do that makes one or the other give the message?

what i mean is that if one computer says the network is connected the other
says the cable is unplugged. depending on which one i start up first it will
say it connected and the second one says there is no plug
