Beyond 2.0 - The Next Major Upgrade

Okay, I know ASP.NET 2.0 isn't out yet. But I'm still wondering if there is
any known timetable - rough as it may be - for the next major upgrade to
ASP.NET beyond 2.0. I'm not talking service pack or patches that would be
likely called 2.1 - I'm asking about something of the magnitude of the
change from 1.1 to 2.0. Any ideas or educated guesstimates?

You might want to take a look at :

and

The LINQ Technology Preview is downloadable right now.
Warning : it only works with the VS.NET Release Candidate.

The VS.NET RC is available at MSDN Subscriber Downloads.
It will be available to the general public shortly.

Just look at the historical timetable of ASP development

classic ASP 1,2,3
ASP.net 1,2

every couple of years, out comes a new version

Yes, and as technologies mature (in general), the frequency of major new
upgrades tends to slow down. So I was wondering if we're looking at "beyond
2.0" as coming more than 2 years later - and if there was some reason to
back that up beyond speculation (i.e., an educated guesstimate).

Historical performanc eis the best indicator of future performance.
The argument of maturing technologies was certainly applicable to classic asp 3, so there is a good history here.
