Beta testers cost ?

G

Guest

I have supported microsoft through and through, recommended microsoft as the
way forward to 100% of my recommendations.

I have run beta tests from 98 upwards and never paid for a single cd.

BUT.

I have never been sent a final release product by Microsoft.

I killed three perfect systems with vista and blue screened all the way to
my dodgy? xp installation disk available from god knows where, just to get
things back to normal.

Now, after I have dedicated £countless hours worth of MY time to working
with 95 98 2k 2003 server edition Vista and more, I would like to know from
bill or one of his paid professionals..

How much do you expect Me to pay for your new OS ?

bare in mind that I cant afford a car, i cant afford to buy the latest
processor and that if I feel like taking MORE chances, I will download a
hacked? version and get the updates from microsoft anyway.

Or...

can you guys just send me a Genuine Vista (FULL PRO EDITION) for £0.00 as a
thank you for the years of suppor I have given ?

I trust you know who I am.

And please, folks, feel free to discuss this, some of us have done exactly
what I have done and feel crapped upon.

a genuine "secure" xp professional wouldnt go a miss if you aint caring about
us that much but it would be nice to get the latest full and final release
vista for free, some of us more than deserve it, i know i do !

Are you or were you ever on the (any) official Beta Team?

And of course you must be joking with your post on this. Also these newsgroups are not monitored by anyone from Microsoft. If you like to take this issue up with Microsoft then contact their local office in your country(UK).

Good Luck.

If you were a part of the Vista TechBeta and submitted at least one bug
report you would have received a free copy of Vista Ultimate :)

I will tell Bill Gates to mail you a copy...

if I can find his email.....

Hmm... I feel your pain. And... it's not like you downloaded the Vista beta
with a promise that you'd get a free copy of the production code, right? You
did the CPP thing? That was intended to give end-users the ability to check
Vista out. Not really an offical "beta test" program. Just "here it is if
you want to check it out..." Nothing more, nothing less.

That said, if you were in some other program than CPP... you still may not
qualify for a free copy of Vista. I was in the TAP program, submitted six
bugs and will not get a free copy of Vista. Am I dissappointed? Slightly.
Have I lost any sleep over it or complained about it in this NG? Nope. C'est
la vie.

Here's an article on Vista. Scroll down to Editions and Pricing to see how
much it will cost you.

Being part of the Customer Preview Programme (CPP) to get a copy of the
betas doesn't make you part of an official Beta Team. CPP people don't
get any full copy, only TechBeta team etc.

So you were part of the offical TechBeta team, rather than the Customer
Preview Programme (CPP)?

Are you a member of the Technical Beta?
If so and you submitted at least one bug, you should get a copy of Vista.
Simply go to the private Beta newsgroups and post specifics of your bug with
the ID so Microsoft can verify or determine why you were missed.

If however you were a member of the Customer Preview Program (CPP) as many
in the public newsgroups, then you do not get Vista.

The CPP and Technical Beta are different programs with different purposes
and are even managed by different people.
The Tech Beta management decided to give their participants who submitted at
least one bug a copy of Vista.

These public peer to peer newsgroup are not officially monitored by
Microsoft unless the newsgroup is designated as a "Managed Newsgroup"
Even then do not expect an answer from Microsoft unless you are a member of
TechNet or MSDN.
Microsoft may not answer if an appropriate answer has already been given by
someone else.
Your question also to be technically relevant to the particular newsgroup.
From what I see, you have not asked a technical question about Vista so
Microsoft has no obligation to answer even if you are a member of an
applicable program.

If you want Microsoft to get your message, this is not the place.
There are appropriate places if you want assurance your message is seen by
Microsoft.

Thats the news I am looking for, thank you.

as you can imagine, with three blue screens that were unavoidable, the
auto
error sending did the trick ;)

If you were a part of the TechBeta and you submitted at least one bug report
through connect you could have received a copy of Vista Ultimate, however
it's too late. That download was taken down in early December.

How do you kill a system with an OS? And how can a system be perfect? Also
wondering what it means that you "blue screend all the way to my dodgy? xp
installation disk available from god knows where,..." Maybe you would care
to translate that to something that's comprehensible, not that it would
affect this thread to any degree.

Actually, I just checked and the TechBeta freebie is still on the server and
available for download.

It should not have been "news" to you as it was mentioned in all the
appropriate communication channels that were used during the Windows
Vista technical beta program.
If you were an active participant then you would already be fully
cognisant of the situation.

I wont bother to cross all the i's and dot all the t's everytime I have
something to write or say.

I dont intend on reading every piece of small print and if you think you
know someone who does, you are sadly mistaken.

I am done here.

"gee thanks" is putting it politely.

I just ask that next time you say something intelligent and intelligible,
that's all.
