Best web hosting providers?

B

Bill

I am looking for recommendations for web-hosting providers for small
business oriented websites.

A search of the internet returns 100's of companies and I want some
references to go on.

I am willing to pay a little extra for reliablity and professional
service.

This site will be a basic site, with 5 pages, a simple "check out"
cart. Content will be online financial news, in email format.

Thanks!

BILL

I use http://www.winsave.com .

It cost 8.95 a month. Does not include a shopping cart but does allow
100 MB, unlimited transfer, MS Access, and FP server extensions. In
three years I have only had 1 day of downtime not related to something
I messed up directly.

The service is via phone and e-mail and is sometimes a little slow
responding. My site is at http://www.weldinginspectionsvcs.com

Hope this helps.

Plus: $100 a year. 500mb, unlimited mail & auto responders, free shopping
cart, good support, long list of services, one hosting plan, IIS on NT
servers.
Minus: shared servers, no anti-spam on mail server; users are required to
maintain personal backups, sub-web domains are treated as 2d domains. That
is, you can have one if you buy a second plan. I'm not impressed with their
resellor program. No adult content, MP3, game, or software download sites
allowed. I balked at this because I wanted to admin a game. They won't
because of the shared servers.

I've been using the service for 3 years. I'd give it 3 of 5 stars. SQL is
$25 a year. I asked them last week if they were going to support FP 2003.
The reply was a non-answer. Their pipes are redundant OC-48 (high bandwidth
connectivity) that allow both audio and video transport.

Bill,

You can find reviews for small business web hosting at:

http://www.SterlingReport.com/business/web-hosting-reviews.html

I found my host there and it has good reporting features, shopping
cart, etc. and the price is very good. The reviews outline various
features -- for example, some have shopping cart for as little as
$7.75/month, while others offer a lot of bandwidth and storage space,
reporting, etc. It depends on what you want.

But definitely check out the reviews.

Good luck!

-Pete
