Best Spyware Program(s) to Use?

P

patetc

I have a laptop with Windows XP, SP2 and in my paranoia about viruses
and spyware I have different programs installed which take up a lot of
room on my limited hard drive.

Web Sweeper, Spybot, Ad-Aware and Fix-It Utilities v6.0. Which should
I keep? I'd like to get rid of anything that isn't worth keepingl

Thanks.

Of the ones you have listed my least favorite is Fix-It Utilities, but
that could be just because it is the least widely known.

Ad-Aware and Spybot make a good "tag-team" for periodic scanning of
your computer. While both do have memory-resident components I
generally prefer to install these just in the basic mode to be run as
and when required (say once a week), and use another product for the
active protection. And Webroot Spy Sweeper is one of the best for
that purpose.

Good luck

I'm running Fix-It Utilities Professional 6, Ad-Aware SE Pro 1.06, Spy
Sweeper 5.07.1608, and ZoneAlarm Pro 6.5 and I would recommend all of them
to anyone that asked. (Never tried SpyBot and have no idea as to how good it
is.) I would not recommend any of the so-called suites from anyone.

Webroot Spysweeper is one of the bests. It has the largest spyware database
and very effective.

I run Ad-Aware SE Pro 1.6 and Trend Micro Anti-Spyware 3.0 (used to be
Intermute SpySubtract).
