I went with a Crucial 9800 Pro.

9600 is best price/performance.

Dunno... Sapphire seem good, but I don't really think there are any
complaints with Powercolor.

I'd do some research on memory timings to get one that clocks well if you
want to go that route. For example, the 9800s come with Samsung 3.3 or
Infineon 3.0ns memory, whilst the Pros all come with Samsung 2.86ns. Not
sure what the 9600s have, but it'll determine your likely max memory clock.

I wouldn't upgrade from that, I went from a 4200 to a crucial 9800Pro and the only
difference/benefit is Ansi in Max Payne2. Battlefields 1942 is a disaster with
corrupted menus and flickering textures plus it's nowhere near as smooth as the
4200. Tiger Woods 2004 is another disaster, graphics are far poorer than on a
4200 plus the screen blanks out as your taking your shot as soon as you put the
graphics setting to 'quality' and the available resolutions are smaller than on
the 4200, no 1600x1200 setting.

I think an Athlon XP2000 is way to underpowered to drive this card, if you put the
settings up high to where you maybe getting a benefit over a 4200, things slow
down badly when there's loads of enemy characters on screen and only go smooth
again when nothing's happening. Don't make the mistake of thinking a better
graphics card will improve performance in a machine with a relatively underpowered
processor.

You have some major configuration problems, I don't see anything like
that. I went from a 4400 to a 9700 Pro and am very happy with the
upgrade.

And more features, more speed, AA and AF that don't cripple performance...

Well 1600x1200 is not excluded from the games I've played and they play
ewxtremely well at hat resulotion. I can't comment on the problems you are
having with corrupt images.

Thats kind of game dependant, but obviously you aren't going to see a
benefit when your CPU can't keep up. However, I don't agree that it should
be any slower than your 4200. You must have some configuration problems or
something.

No read this newsgroup properly you'll see others with B1942 problems, go to the
official EA's website and read the forums, the problems with Tiger Woods are well
known and I expect to be address in the next game update or cat 3.9.
