Please download, install and update the following software...

* Ad-aware SE v1.06
http://www.lavasoft.de/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
http://www.lavasoft.de/ms/index.htm

* SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.4
http://security.kolla.de/
http://www.safer-networking.org/microsoft.en.html

* SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

If you go to securitytango.com, then Lets Dance on the left side of the page,
you can get all the spyware you need. It works great. There are complete
instructions on how to clean your machine.

Hope this helps.

Jenny

Also, in addition to the above, Ad-Aware SE Personal is very good
http://www.lavasoft.com/
Regards Mike.

I personally use and recommend all three of these tools.

What you don't want to use is ANY spyware tool that is BETA software.
Any software that is labeled "BETA" is only meant to be used for testing
purposes, not for true malware protection.

If you are looking for the single best product, you are making a mistake. No
single product is good enough, and you should run two or more, not one. Note
that Eric > Howes, who has done extensive testing on Anti-Spyware products
states

"No single anti-spyware scanner removes everything. Even the best-performing
anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one quarter of the
"critical" files and Registry entries"

See http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm

I recommend a combination of Ad-aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and
Spyware Blaster.

This may be true but as far as Microsoft's Windows Defender Beta 2 is
concerned, although it is still for testing purposes, I understand that
it has licensing issues pending and so it can't release the final
version until this is resolved. I must add that I am quite happy with
Windows Defender beta 2 but i don't expect people to have the same
opinions.

Condsidering how many posts I constantly see of people indicating problems with it and its
failure to remove malware, I don't suggest its use !

You only come to hear when people have problems. What is the point of
posting to a newsgroup if everything is working fine? Only problems are
posted - not successes!

According to MS, there are 25+ million active customers. How many have
you come across with problems so far?

That's not true. The vast majority are complains, but a small number are
where they post back saying what/that it was fixed, and there is also a
small number of people posting what works for them.

What do you want to bet that less than half know if the MS Usenet
service by web and less than 10% know what Usenet is, and of those that
know of either, less than 10% with a problem actually come here to post
it.

I add Ewido to the Spybot/Ad-aware/Spywareblaster combo. And the VX2 plug-in
for Ad-aware (on their site).

Are you saying that David Lipman is liar when he says: "Condsidering how
many posts I constantly see of people indicating problems
with it and its failure to remove malware". David is an experienced
Security Expert (or appears to be one) and he should know what he is
talking about.

In business whether or not customers know anything about the product is
irrelevant. Customers should be given the benefit of doubt. If they
know little about usenets then there wasn't the necessity for them to
research into this. Had they any need for this service, they would have
known from people like you who will go out of their way to educate and
inform these people. NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION!!

I don't want to carry on this topic. I am a satified user of Windows
Defender Beta 2 and that is all matters to me. David Lipman is an
experienced security expert (or appears to be one) and I value his
expertise in such matters. As far as you are concerned, I have no
record of your expertise on any matters except that you like arguing and
to take an opposite view on everything and to waste everybody's time.

Goodbye.

LOL! More like WD and it's predecessors has been downloaded 25 million
times.

I've probably downloaded it myself 100 times in my testing of WGA. That
doesn't mean I am a customer 100 times over. Don't believe the
propaganda of a company known for over-statement.
