I was just wondering if I should sign up for a Hotmail account that you pay
for because this is the only kind of Hotmail account accessible from Outlook.
So what are the benefits of using Outlook? This will help me make my
decision.
Also, how can I create a free account to use with Outlook?

A paid Hotmail account is also accessible from Outlook Express.

Calendaring and a measure of task management are benefits. WIth a Hotmail
Premium account, you can use Outlook Live and keep all yuor data on the
Hotmail server so that it's accessible world-wide. There are drawbacks as
well. If the Hotmail servers aren't available for some reason, neither is
your data.

Google Mail offers free POP accounts that can be used with Outlook (or any
POP client). You need an invitation to get an account at this time, however
(although they're relatively easy to come by).
