Belkin Network Adapter driver causes XP reboot

I have a wireless network running smoothly using a Belkin ADSL Modem/Router
and Belkin laptop network adapter card. However, intermittantly, XP crashes
to a blue screen error and reboots, generating a serious error report. The
report states that the network adapter driver has caused a conflict with XP.
I have updated the driver with Belkin to no avail. I run AOL 9 as the
browser software through a TCP/IP connection.

The problem occurs only once in every few hours, but it's a pain. Has anyone
come across this?

Regards

Patrick

What is the error report? Be specific. Anyone using an AOL product
should first look to that product for a fix.

HI Thanks for replying. The error report sent by Windows is as follows:

Problem Description

An unknown error occurred in 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Adapter Driver (bcmwl5.
sys). At this time Microsoft is unaware of the specific cause of this problem.

The problem has occured when AOL has not been running (playing game) so I
believe this is a issue with the Belkin driver and XP. As XP immediately
reboots when the serious error occurs, I cannot catch the detail of the blue
screen message. Hope this helps?

Since this post, I have found other threads on the same problem with a
potential fix. It seems that although Belkin still provide the same drivers
a compatible updated version of the bcmwl5.sys file can be downloaded from
the HP site in amongst its network card drivers pack (search for ZT3208us).
I have extracted the single file and copied it to c:/windows/system32/drivers.
So far so good. Suggest anyone trying this fix creates a restore point first.
