Beeping Problem

Shep

Nobody answered my first post so I will try again

Every evening at 8:11 p.m. my computer starts beeping for about 30 seconds.
It stops as soon as I disconnect from the internet. If I set the computer
clock back an hour the beep does not occur when the clock says 8:11 p.m. but
beeps when the actual time is 8:11 p.m. (9:11 on the computer clock) This
tells me that someone has access to my computer at the same time each day.

I use the free version of ZoneAlarm and have started fresh with all ports
closed. I have scanned using updated Norton antivirus definitions. I have
used the free versions of SpyDocter and Ad-Aware. I have deleted all
cookies and temporary files. Nothing seems to work.

Can anyone help?

Howdie ,
from my little experience of beeps , if your computers bios or your
antivirus program is set to warn when a virus or suchlike is found , the
computer will make a beeping sound . A constant beep , I think means
intrusion .
Search for Beeps on the internet for information , Google and others , MSN
SeaSearch ,
Now thinking , it may be an automatic update for one of your programs .
Got any Schedules for automatic updates . Go through Control Panel to
Performance and Maintenance > Scheduled Tasks and look for a time a Task may
be scheduled to run , maybe .
I am not a professional , but that is safe .
My computer makes a sort of buzzing sound for short times , often it seems
, at the same times of the day .

.....and , the other day I went dream shopping again , I am in New Zealand ,
and went to an American website and clicked on what must have been a porn
link , which I clicked on while I tried to move the mouse cursor from the
top of the page to the bottom , and some sort of porn showed . I got off the
site as quickly as I could and 4 days later noticed in the (check for
anything unusual in here) Firewall Exceptions a program phz with the box
next to it ticked .
I removed it about 2 days later and the following week found it on
Symantecs site , thanks to a post by someone on this newsgroup which led me
straight to it . My computer had been doing things I would not expect it to
do and at what does seem certain time of the day and noght the harddrive
makes odd noises , but it is failing as weel , but still at the same times of
the day and night .
It was a hacking tool with a PWSteal.Bankash.C. program . It could of
stolen passwords and it may have come from the accidental click , and that
click was not something I would have remembered until I had found the phz
and what its details on the Symantec website were .
You never know .
