BCM Remote Server

Hi,
I have been given the task of setting up BCM 2007 for all of our computers
at our office (about 25). We have a server offsite. The impression I keep
getting from the Microsoft guides is that I have to set up one computer to be
the master and all of the others to connect to that one. Can I have a set up
on our remote server so that people can access that one instead of having a
master computer all the time? I saw some other threads dealing with
something similar, but I didn't understand what they were discussing
completely, so I could really use some direction here.

Thanks in advance.

If you use the BCM Database tool it will allow you to install a master
database on a SQL server
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0F-F593-4FB4-B822-DD662AF1A6CB&displaylang=en
and then you can have your clients connect to that main sql server database.
The sql server doesn't need to have Office on it if you use this tool. If
you use offline databases on your clients that synch with the master
database it will be really good. Hope this helps, let me know if you need
more info.

Thanks for your help! This makes BCM look really useful for our purposes. I
did download that patch, but I'm not entirely sure how to use it effectively.
My question is: how, once i have downloaded the extra program set up the
database on the SQL server? Our servers are offsite, can I do it from the
office?

Thanks.

The tool needs to be installed on the SQL Server. Once installed the tool
will recognize the SQL server and give you the option to Create a new BCM
databases, share it, back it up...

The Outlook clients are going to need to be able to access that SQL server
in order for this scenario to work.
