Batch change Word properties

I have 6000 Word documents. I need to update each
document's properties to set a "Title" for each one based
on a certain format. I don't want to go through and open,
change, and close each one by hand.

Any way I can do this?

It would require a macro. Microsoft provides a tool -
DSOFile.exe - that will even let a programmer read and
manipulate file properties on a closed file. And there
should be an article at word.mvps.org that describes how to
use it.
