BartPE and Generic WinXP Harddrive Driver ?

Hello,

I can run a Win98 DOS bootdisk with ntfsdos.exe started in the
autoexec.bat file and access NTFS harddrives without any motherboard
or harddrive specific drivers. However in WinXP BartPE I need to add
specific drivers in order to access a harddrive which means that the
BartPE CD may not work on a different PC.

Is there a way to add a generic WinXP harddrive driver to BartPE that
will provide basic functionality for most/all IDE harddrives ?

Thank you,

D.Hughes

Bart PE boot CDs include generic drivers for most if not
all IDE disks. So far I have not seen any failures. Note
also that disks are not "NTFS". NTFS is one of several
file systems that can be used on disk partitions.

When I run the Bart PE CD the file viewer shows a CD drive letter,
however it shows nothing on an inserted disk, and it does not show any
hardrive partition letters. It also would not originally respond to
the USB keyboard or mouse. I searched the internet and found that the
c:\windows\inf\input.inf file needed to be placed in the Bart PE local
source folder before compilation. Perhaps there are similar files
required for CD or harddrive access ?

A related question is how can an added plugin be referenced in the
Bart PE program menu ? At present I need to start the file viewer or
go to the command prompt.

The questions you ask all relate to the Bart BE boot CD, not
to Windows. You are more likely to get an answer if you post
it in a Bart forum or check the Bart FAQs. In view of the problems
you have, I suspect that your Bart PE build is flawed.
