Bagle virus

I just installed AVG freeware anti virus.
AVG freeware found the following on my computer and says it is not healable.
What can I do?
Harrye.zip
C:\Documanets and setting\Margaret De Rose\Local Settings\Temp\
Virus identified I-Worm/Bagle
File size 6.58KB
Not healable

It is also present in
S3700026.exe
9.42KB

and in
Text5546.exe
9.45KB
AVG put these in the virus vault and I deleted the files. Am I ok now? Can
anyone tell me what the S3700026.exe and Text5546.exe files are?
Thanks

Both are versions of the Beagle virus/trojan.. Once in the virus vault it
can't do anything, and now that you have deleted them they are gone. I would
prefer to shred them instead of just deleting them but the danger is
probably gone. Some programs including Tune Up Utilities and Spybot Search
and Destroy include a file shredder.

Never, ever open E-mail attachments from people that you do not know. Even
if you know the people, never open an attachment unless you know for sure
that someone you know actually sent it.

S3700026.exe, Text5546.exe and Harrye.zip *are* the virus. If they have
been deleted you are OK. Make sure that you keep AVG up to date, check for
updates at least once a day. And run a system scan just as often. AVG puts
out at least 6 new updates a week.

Hi Wesley,
Yes - this was very helpful. I have the AVG and will use it. It was also
told that getting the Zone Alarm Pro firewall was a good idea. I haven't
purchased it yet but I plan to. I am going to be much more careful about
attachments. The AVG seems very good because it will screen the e-mails and
let me know if it sees a virus in it.

Hi Juan,
This helps. I don't know what a file shedder is. But after the delete from
the vault I can't find the files anywhere on my computer with a search so I
think it is all gone.
Thanks,

Hi !
If you want to use Zone Alarm you don't need the Professional version
because the free one is good ,too.

I strongly believe and recommend you use Windows Firewall which is
integrated in Windows XP SP2 .As you are home user ,goto Control Panel -
Windows Firewall and then make sure it is ON with Don't allow exceptions
checked.

If you don't have Win XP SP2 ,then you may download the free version of Zone
Alarm.

Don't forget about the spyware protection and things like that.

Note that the Windows firewall is *not* new in SP2. It existed in the
original release of XP. It's is somewhat improved in SP2, and it's turned on
by default (it wasn't before SP2).

The Windows firewall monitors incoming traffic only. Almost any third-party
firewall will also monitor outbound traffic, stopping rogue programs trying
to call home, and is a better choice.
