BAD_POOL_CALLER error

T

Tim

I played a DVD last night which worked OK, but when I
tried to close the program my computer bluescreened. The
message was "BAD_POOL_CALLER Stop:0X000000C2
(0X00000040,0X00000000,0X80000000,0X00000000)"
This is a new Compaq Presario X1010 with Windows XP
Home, and 512 MB Ram. The progam was WinDVD. It's the
first time I have played a DVD or ran that program.
This may or may not have anything to do with it but I am
also getting Stop Errors to do with smwdm.sys which I am
waiting to hear from Compaq about. I believe that has
something to do with SoundMax. And when I leave my
computer on at night to let scheduled tasks run the next
morning the screen is blank and the only thing I can do
is a reset.
This may be information overload but I relly don't know
what is relevent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim
