Bad user agent listing?

Hopefully someone can help me...I have IE v6.0 on my Win XP SP2 PC, with all
the latest security updates and what not. All of a sudden, I can't get to
the Windows update page. I have traced my problem to a bad user agent entry.
When I do a "javascript:navigator.userAgent" in IE, I get the following
result back:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

I have tried what the Microsoft Knowledgebase suggests as far as editing the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User
agent\Post Platform as mentioned in KB 817144, and this did not work.
Anybody have any other clues? I can still do Auto updates, but other sites
are not working as well. Thanks

You might want to post your question to the experts in the Windows
Update newsgroup.
