Bad sectors on hard drive

Hi All
Got a question here, How come when i use the fdisk utility to delete and
partition then format a hard drive as fat 32 it reports i have 272 kiabites
in bad sectors, but when i format useing winXP (ntfs) it reports no
kilabites in bad sectors?
Does ntfs just write over the bad sectors or does it mark them and not use
them like Fat32 ?

you could try chkdsk c: /r to see if they can be detected.
In ntfs, if a bad sector is detected, it marks it in it's
map and doesn't use that sector again.
