BAD RAM caused Pre-RC1 to NOT install...

I kept getting a BSOD durring install of vista and the error was titled
MEMORY_MANAGMENT I ran a memory Diagnostic tool and found 1 stick had an
error on Test 3. So I pulled the memory and pre-rc1 installed... Once
installed my expectations were trampled on. With Beta 2 on my system it had
constant Hangs and freezes. Well guess what. pre-rc1 is EXACTLY THE SAME
WAY!!!! What the hell. I had thought that through all the builds from 5384 to
5536 they would have fixed whatever is causing my constant hangs. I sure as
hell hope that RC-1 is fixed. But I seriously doubt it. What is causing this
and why. OH and they still do NOT have a driver for my on board sound card.
Its a Realtek ALC655 nor my Belkin Wireless PCI card. However the XP driver
works just fine for the wireless card. Any input on all this would be
great....
Here are my specs...

ECS Elitegroup RC410L/800-M V.2
P-4 2.8 with H/T
512MB DDR2
nVIDIA GeForce 6600 PCI-E 128MB DDR2
80GB Samsung ATA133 HDD -Vista
80GB Seagate SATA - XP-PRO
NEC DVD-RW
TSST- CD-RW
Microsoft wireless Keyboard and mouse combo

Why do you think it is Microsoft's responsibility to supply hardware drivers
for hardware that others manufacture?

If the hardware manufacturer submits updated Vista drivers for inclusion in
the operating system, it will be done.

Many manufacturers wait until "after" the new operating system has shipped
before they tell you that they will not make drivers available for your 6
year old printer.

You angst should be directed toward the hardware manufacturer and not toward
Microsoft.

Memory goes bad all the time, it's not the fault of the OS. I'm running 5536,
and it works great.

P4 1.8GHz
512 RDRAM (800MHz)
Geforce 3
Netgear FA312 nic
Soundblaster Live Value

Well you know this hardware is new this year though. Somone needs to make
some stable drivers. Wiether its Microsoft or the manufacturer I dont care.
But thats not my problem... my problem is WHY the system hangs constantly. I
dont get it. Did it with Beta 2 and it does it with Pre-rc1.
As for the ram going bad... I know ram goes bad all the time. I had a bad
ram stick in an older system I had and when I was trying to install XP it
would Blue screen me. Replaced the ram and all was good. But many other
people had the same BSOD as I did and 2 of us so far found bad RAM. I just
was adding to the 411 for other users with the same problem.

Now lets figure this problem out I have b/c Im guessing it is going to exist
with RC1 as well and why waist my time and trouble downloading RC1 if im not
going to see a change and be able to actually use vista and beta test it.
Right now its imposible to test. Anytime I open any program wiether its
Solitare or Media player, or even shut down the computer... it hangs anywhere
from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

"Wiether its Microsoft or the manufacturer I dont care"
Well, it will not be Microsoft since Microsoft does not make drivers for 3rd
party products.
The included drivers are provided by the hardware manufacturer.

Have you contacted the hardware manufacturer and asked about the specific
drivers you need?
If you don't who will?
If few or no one does it is possible the manufacturer will deem spending the
resources unnecessary.

It seems Memory, Graphics and COOLING are stressed a lot more with
Vista. My intermittent problems were a flaky Graphics card Fan
(unfortunately, it got the card before I figures the fan was
intermittent).
Drivers seem to be another issue, but only caused problems if I did
certain tasks.
If a task ran... It ran fine, as long as I did not do one of the other
things that caused a BSOD.

I wonder how MS expects people to upgrade to Vista with so few Fully
Functional third party drivers available for older devices?

And third parties supported periphals that we brought out in '98, for XP?
It's the technology field. Companies view own devices as not worthy to make
new drivers for. I for one, will be building a new rig about six-seven months
after Vista ships.. actually probably a year (I want to get my hands on a
quad-core cpu :D
