I am running Windows 2000 Server and Window 2000 Advanced Server with RAID 5. I want to know whether I can use the software "Ghost" to back up the entire servers. what I am concerning is that if I retore the OS, do I need to reconfigure the hard disks to RAID 5? Plse advise and tell me the best approach. Many thanks in advance

Hi

I also use Ghost to back up my servers, I have only
restored once but it was fine I didn't need to change or
modify the raid is anyway shape or form. It was just a
standard restore it just restored the os to the point
where I took the backup and everything carried on as
normal
but alot could depend on your make of ghost software

We use power quest 5.5 but that's not to say its the
best..
It does have 1 big draw back the OS has to have had a
clean shutdown before you can image it... doesn't sound
like a big thing but.
Much to my distress our exchange server c drive became
full, and crashed as soon as it booted up. So I couldn't
give it a clean shutdown. With power quest 5.5 you can
take a image and move it on to a larger HDD increasing
the partition size.. A very nice idea but with out the
clean shutdown it wasn't any use... shame.. I think there
are much newer versions out now
power quest is a nice cheap ghost package. and it has
helped me many times.
