backups and missing info

There are several records missing or deleted (I do not know what happened to
them) from the database. I created several backups of my database. I have a
report that shows the missing records and when I open backups that is dated
before the report, the information is not in any of those either. What
happened to
the information in the old backups?

Information does not 'just disappear'; it would seem that those records were deleted before those backups were made.
