Hi!

I needed to make a change to my registry and wanted to back it up first.
But when I go to System Tools, there's no Backup utility. Would that be on
the WinXp cd or am I missing something? Thank you.

Backup is only installed in Pro; it comes on a retail Home CD (in
ValueAdd\Msoft\Backup

But it is not the tool for backing up the registry. That is does every
day as part of the day's automatic System Restore point, and using
System Restore is the normal way to revert to an older version. If you
want an independent additional backup, use ERUNT (free) from

When you are amending a particular area of the registry a good course is
in regedit.exe to highlight and File Export a key at a level just above
the area you are dealing with - you can then restore things in that area
