Hi

I have downloaded and installed the copy of ntbackup to my C: drive. When I
tried the option within the utility to backup all the files on the system, it
says it could not find the floppy drive to create the recovery files and then
aborted.

As my system is a brand-new notebook with a floppy disk drive, could I
somehow change the Backup Uitlity to look for the optical drive instead in
order to bypass the need of the floppy drive?

Thanks

I haven't tried it but if you map the optical drive as a network drive,
ntbackup should then use it. Keep in mind that ntbackup does not know how
to span disks - meaning if your system backup is larger than a single CD
the backup will not finish correctly.

You may be better off investing in an imaging program such as Acronis True
Image (I use this and like it) or Ghost. If you only want to backup data
files, look into third party backup programs capable of writing their files
to CDs or DVDs.
