Backup Programs

I need a backup program. First, I bought Norton Ghost. It failed saying it
"couldn't access service". Norton folks were clueless, so I signed up for the
trial of BackupGenie.

I'm very happy with it, except it seems to be unable to link to and/or start
the service it needs to backup open databases -- Volume Shadow Copy (VSS)
Service. Bummer. I don't want to pay them for the software if it won't run
right (and unattended).

I ran their custom batch file to try to resolve the problem, but it appears
it can't start it up either. I'm guessing Norton Ghost had the same problem,
but was just not very articulate about it.

Anyway, anyone able to help me with this? I am running a couple DBMS's
including MS SQL Server, and MySQL. I run Office 2007. I'm on XP Pro, up to
date on all MS updates. VSS shows started and running on my services list. My
logonID is an administrator. The system is nominally part of a domain, but I
turned the server off long ago and log in locally only.

Contact both these manufacturers and discuss your needs with them, one or both may be able
to assist you or at least advise you if their software will do what you want -
