I am trying to backup my files (for the first time) to a
CD (drive D). I keep getting the error message "D: is not
a valid drive, or you do not have access". Does anyone
know how I get the necessary access for the drive?
Thank you.

If yr using default backup utility it cannot back up to cd. You have to
backup to hd, then copy backup to cd - a pain!
Or invest in a 'proper' backup App that has this facility.

assuming the CD is a burner! if the CD is using an app to stream data - eg
Easy CD Creator's Direct CD etc - then you should be able to write direct to
this drive as it is setup as a Worm disk

It is a CD burner and it does use CD Creator; but I still
keep getting that error message. What is a Worm disk?

If you are using NTbackup, you cannot designate the CD drive as a
target/desination. You must either backup to a file and then copy the
file to the CD, or use a different program to back up.
