backup and restore utility help

Hello,

I have just made a back up of my c: drive using the XP back up utility. I
saved it on to my D: drive. No problems there.

Once I installed my new C: drive and put XP OS on it, I chose to restore the
back up file from my D: drive. That worked, to a certain degree. It has
restored all the info from my old C: drive, but when I go to launch programs,
like MS office or antivirus etc, it is telling me that they aren't installed.
Yet they show up in the start menu, and program files folder.

Please help

An ASR restore (available only in Windows XP Professional) will restore
everything. A backup/restore from Windows Home will not. What you are likely
missing are registry entries for the installed programs. Reinstall the
programs to the same locations. This will place the necessary entries into
the registry.
