backspace key prin a 5 insead of backspacing?

WhY does mY backspace keY prinT a 5 instead of backspacinG?

Also i cannot print lower case Y or G.

Defective keyboard?
Inappropriate keyboard language?
Some wag has re-mapped your keyboard?
None of this has anything to do with Word.

First thing, close word, then in windows exporer rename your normal.dot file
to normal.bak

Restart word and see if that helps. If you have any styles in your
normal.dot, you can use the organisor to copy them to the new file.

If this doesn't help, start word in safe mode. if there is no problemin safe
mode, then it could be a third party addin causing the problem, check in
\tools\templates and addins.

If the problem is affecting newsreading and/or web forums as appears to be
the case - tinkering with Word's setup files is not going to help!
