.backolor = system button shadow ??

A2007, the backcolor is 'system button face' and I want to code it to change
to 'system button shadow' on an event instead of a hard color... tried no
quotes, quotes, but didn't work ??? more curious than need to do it.

Try the VBA constant, vbButtonShadow

I'm not sure that will get you what you want. You might find this link

yeah, if you go to the object browser and lookup the constants, although they
aren't named exactly the same, ie, the color 'System Button Shadow' is
vbButtonShadow, but at least I can find it in the constants... it got me
thinking about looking at other vba constants available in the browser to
save time.
