Backing Up Word to a different hard drive

I know that a backup copy of a doc can be made by
selecting "tools/options/save/always create backup copy."

Is there a way to send this backup copy automatically to a
different drive? If yes, how?

No, Word automatically saves the backup to the same folder as the original
file. If you really want to, you can manually move the backup files (they
have a different file extension) after you close Word.
