Backing Up Windows Mail

Chris

I am tentatively going back to OE (Now Windows Mail) after some time
away. I try to make sure all data on my system is backed up regularly.
I have changed my message store to a location on a separate partition,
but want to regularly back up the mail to a separate HD and also to a
thumb drive. I notice that the new format is just individual email
files. Is it enough to just back up the store folders? For example,
when I move to Vista final in a few weeks, and if I have kept a back up
of the store folder, can I simply import the backup back into Windows
Mail?

I am aware of the import/export feature. The export always wants an
empty directory, though. I want to know whether I can just copy the
folder and then import it, or is there something different that happens
when one does an explicit export?

You can create a folder and just highlight all messages in outlook and drag
and drop in to folder.
