backing up MP3 files

I have an iRiver MP3 player with a 20Gb drive. My question relates to backup
of the drive onto my PC and how to update the backup.
All my music files are MP3 files and I have each CD/album arranged as a
seperate folder. I also have a variety of other folders eg. 'Singles' which
contain a variety of tracks.
When I connect the player via USB to my PC it shows up as an accessory drive
and I have copied all the contents onto my PC using the Select
All>Copy>Paste. My current backup file is 15Gb.
I will continue to add and delete MP3 files. How do I update my backup file
without deleting all the contents and re-copy/pasting. Is there a utility
which can do this?

Since MP3 files aren't going to compress further, you may as well simply
copy them to CDs or DVDs. You'll even be able to play them directly off
those disks with a PC or DVD player.

All I want to do is to keep a copy of my iRiver hard drive on my PC in case
I lost it or the hard drive broke. I am happy to keep the MP3 in
uncompressed form. I have enough disk space on my PC to keep them there.
I want to be able to back it up on a weekly basis, avoiding the hassle of
deleting the backup every time and making a fresh 15Gb backup.

Windows (Sorry "Total") Commander is a very capable file manager that allows
you, among other things, to compare and synchronize two folders (and all
their subfolders).

I do this regularly as I keep two copies of My Documents, one on drive D:
and another on a USB flash disk.

Well MP3 files are just files, so if you have a copy of them on your
hard drive, just point your (unspecified) backup software at the folder
that contains them. You should also keep an offline and offsite backup
anyway.

Go to your MP3 player and Select All. Choose Copy. Go to your hard drive
location and Choose Paste. When it says the file already exists do you want
to overwrite it choose No for all. That should only copy new MP3s to your
hard drive backup.
