Backing Up Local Policy

Couple questions:

Does anyone know how to create a backup of the current local policy on a
Windows XP machine? Actually, I want to create a backup template (INF) file
of my current security settings before I make any changes via Security
Configuration Analysis and/or SECEDIT. I've played around with the
SECEDIT.SDB file but couldn't make it happen.

Secondly, are local policy security settings stored in the registry? If
so, where?

Please consider cross-posting when it is appropriate to post the
same thing in multiple newsgroups. Just list them on as the post-to
newsgroups in a single posting.
Multiple posts consume extra bandwidth for those in areas of the
world where they pay by the byte, if they are in those multiple NGs,
and it fragments the info so it does not all collect in one thread.

And, as answered elsewhere, export of local policy cannot be done.
The closest you will come is copying the secedit.sdb, or building
a template that matches the existing settings.

Thanks,
