backing up data in XP

Hi there,
I have ~50Gb data (my home made videos) and I want to back up those videos
in DVD disks(7.4GB ones). But as soon as the first disk get burned the
software do not ask for the next one but it pops up an error saying that
there is no enough space. I tried to get int a new empty DVD as Disk2 but
nothing happens. Each file is bigger than 11 GB so can NOT copy them one by
one.

Any idea how to back the up in DVDs?

The built-in backup program in Windows XP was designed for tape drives
and does not span other removable media. You need a third-party backup
application.

Two possibilities:

1) Split your video files using video editing software, or alter resolution
and/or compression ratios so they take less than 7.4 GB. The resulting files
should fit to your DVDs, and be playable straight off them, but you will
suffer some loss of quality.

2) Split your files using third party software. There exists programs
specifically designed for splitting and rejoining files, but this feature is
also standard in most fil compression programs such as WinRAR and TugZip.
You cannot play your files straight off the DVDs you burn, but you can
rejoin the files onto your harddrive, and they will be in original length
and quality.

Use the method which suits you and your intended usage best.

(Stomp). For DVD's I recommend BackUpMyPC just because I am used to it. I
use both backup programs for different scenarios. Both are good.

Use Ghost and specify 7.4gig in the switch and point it to your dvd burner.

Use a third party backup program like Retrospect (Dantz) or BackUpMyPC
