Background switches from tile to stretch

Every time I set my background to tiled, minutes (sometimes seconds!) later
XP changes it to stretch. You can watch the change take place. Very
irritating.

Anyone heard of this problem or how to fix it? Thanks.

Do you have a wallpaper changer (or similar) utilities running in the
background?

For the sake of my ego, I hope not. I'm at work currently, but I'll check
when I get home. I know I used to have some sort of live-desktop program, but
I'm pretty sure I deleted it. I'll reply once I've checked it out. Thanks for

Additional info:

You can try isolating the problem by disabling startup programs one at a
time, until the problem is resolved.
