I cannot select any of the backgrounds from my display menu. Also, if I try
to post a picture of my own as the background the background becomes solid
white. I can see the selected picture on startup and shutdown, but at no
other times.

Download SmitFraud.exe from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/SmitFraud.exe

Execute; SmitFraud.exe { Note: You must accept the default of C:\McAfee }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to enable WGET.EXE to download the needed McAfee related files.

Execute; c:\mcafee\clean.bat
{ or Double-click on 'Clean Link' in c:\mcafee }

A final report in HTML format called C:\mcafee\ScanReport.HTML will be generated. At the
end of the scan, it will be displayed in your browser (Opera, FireFox or Internet Explorer).
It is suggested that you move the report out of c:\mcafee before performing another scan.

Please Copy and Paste the contents of the HTML Log file; C:\mcafee\ScanReport.HTML in your
reply.

As per Morpheus, use the REGEDIT to get into the Registry Editor and go to
the location he specified:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\POLICIES\EXPLORER
There should only be two listings there:
Default
NoDriveTypeAutoRun
If there is anything else besides these two, DELETE THEM.
Also, if there are any other headings under Policies, DELETE THEM also!
I fixed my son's computer so he could select the background scenes by doing
this without anyone else helping me besides the suggestion above as to where
to find the culprit! Probably put there by some spyware, adware or virus.

Yeah sorry i forgot to mention in my last post that the same thing happened,
to sort it out all i did was shut my computer down after making the changes
to the registry and then restarted it and everything was back to normal.
don't know whether you've done this already but if not give it a try.
