Background Colour

I am designing the staff intranet and am using copying the source from our
main site to use the basic layout. I have then amended it as such to the
content i will be placing on it.

With the copied source the backgound colour is not accesable to be changed.
the defualt is deep grey. On the main site the source was copied from this is
not the case.

is there anyway or does anyone know what string i should look for in the
code to overright this aspect. I presume its a safety feature to stop people
doing what i did?
