background color in paragraphs of e-mails?

I used to be able to change the font and background colors in my e-mail
replies, so that it was easier to see the latest addition to the exchange.
Recently, my background color icon disappeared from my toolbar, and I have no
idea why. I would like to get it back.

If using or replying to Plain Text messages, there are no formatting
options. Leave it that way - the sender has reasons for using Plain Text.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
