I want to back up files and folders on my computer (OS XP)

I Click Start, point to All Programs, point to
Accessories, point to System Tools but do not see the
Backup utility. Am I doing something wrong?

That option is not availble on XP. You can backup from
DOS or use a stand alone program.

Sorry, that's completely wrong. The Backup utility does come with
Windows XP. Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional,
but not on XP Home. But even with XP Home, if you have the
complete XP Home CD, find backup on the CD, in
\ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself.

You can backup from
DOS

There is no DOS in Windows XP, so you can't even get to it
without booting from a DOS diskette. And if your drive is NTFS,
you won't be able to access it if you boot from a diskette (at
least not without a special utility to enable DOS to see NTFS
files).
