AVIs quit playing in PowerPoint 2003

One of our users just got a new laptop with Office 2003. Now the AVIs in his
presentation no longer play, on his laptop or on anyone else's who has PP
2003. We all get "There is no device driver installed on your system" when
we try to play the AVIs in mplay32.exe, which is apparently a known problem.
They play fine on his old laptop. Is there a solution to this one?
